Babylon
Ancient city of Babylon is located 90km to the south of Baghdad10km to the north of Al Hillah. Geographically, it's mediated the archeological cities of Babil province: Kish, Borsippa, Kotha in addition to Al Kifl. The name of the city of Babylon is derived from the Babylonian Bab-il or Bab-ilam according to what found the texts of Cuneiform which is mean the gate of the gods. and as the Sumerian Ka-dingir-ra-ki, which refers to the same meaning. Also it is known with names emphasizes the importance of the status or place of religious city. It is also named Tin-tir-ti means the very life, Sn-an-ki means the hand of sky, E-ki means the city of canals, and Nun-ki Arredo the ancient Sumerian city. The Greeks have they reported Authority of Babylon, including the city of Babylon. The name of the city of Babylon is continued to the present and it is the most famous name in the ancient and modern world. The city of Babylon reached degree of fame to become the title for old civilization of Iraq and attributed to them by Iraq as a whole is said to Babylonia and its people, the Babylonians.

Al Hillah City
Depend on the historical resources, most researchers mentioned that the prince Sadaqa bin Mansoor 501 AH/1107 put the first step for establishing Al Hillah city on the west bank of the Al Hillah River. He moved to Al Hillah in 495 AH/1101. He came from Al Nile city which was the home of his folks, the princes of Mazeed tribe. They have lived at Al Nile city since 405AH/1014 before they moved to the Al Hillah city. But also there is an old historical text mentioned that before Sadaqa bin Mansoor came to Al Hillah city, it was taken from Al Sayfiyah tribe which is a tribe of him. So it wasn't empty land but there were many buildings and houses. The main place of Al Hillah city at that time is called (Al Jam'ayn) which is described by witness, died befor Sadaqa's coming, it's a small platform surrounded by fertile soil. The statement which is mentioned above has confirmed by Bin Hawqal who's deceased in the fourth century 380AH/990, also he mentioned that the area of Al Jam'ayn land stretching along the banks of river east west and north south.
